The course will contribute to the personal and professional development of participants, allowing them to enhance a set of skills related to planning, conducting and evaluating training activities for adults in different fields and contexts. Participants will learn to share their professional knowledge and experience using active, engaging learning methodologies. Specific objectives of the course are based on a trainer's competency profile which is structured around European Qualifications Framework.

The course supports the participants in:
- understanding the role and mission of the trainer
- creating a supportive learning environment based on principles of adult learning
- communicating effectively with learning groups
- defining training objectives and expected outcomes
- using active methods of group learning
- evaluating learning outcomes
Improving the skills mentioned above will support participants who are professional adult trainers, as well as those who pursue careers related to other forms of human development (including management). In the latter case, enhancing competences described above may serve as a way of expanding the range of possibilities available in work with clients and employees. Participants who complete the course will be able to conduct short trainings in domains related to their professional or personal expertise.

training methodology: |
The course is an adaptation of the "Train the trainers" program, prepared and successfully conducted at Jagiellonian University Extension, referring to the fourth level of The Trainer Competences Profile (prepared by JUE and based on European Qualification Framework). It employs an active, student-oriented approach, with specific focus on developing ability to personally conduct training sessions or group meetings, concentrating on the specific goals achievement. Theoretical background is presented in form of short presentations that help understand the basic rules and methods of working with groups. The course emphasizes hands-on practice of the developed skills in numerous training exercises and practice sessions. Part of the training is conducted using action learning methodology, which supports transferring learning results to a specific, professional area related to participants' interests.

preparation and follow-up: |
After completing the course participants will be encouraged to implement and test solutions to the issue generated during the action learning session. A short written memo describing results of the implementation will be sent to other course participants, allowing the group to share successes and use them as inspiration. The participants will be also invited to exchange experiences and get support for their new training initiatives. The Jagiellonian University Extension, as a partner of the Trainers of Europe Network will provide access to trainers learning platform and discussion list.
